Internet Cafe Fronting Illegal Games of Bingo
A man from Salt Lake City was last night charged with operating an illegal bingo operation. Frank Musil, 51 owned the Fast Action Internet Cafe, near 3400 South State. The internet cafe fronting illegal games of bingo was operating up until November last year when police raided the venue.
In October last year police began an investigation into the goings on at the Fast Action Internet Cafe. Undercover officers were used to enter the business numerous times and at one point observed fifteen active computer screens, none of which had the internet running but were actually displaying bingo screens with odds of winning and payouts, just like an online bingo hall.
The officers confirmed that the computers were offering illegal gambling by playing a number of 25¢ bingo cards, according to the filed charges. During one of the many visits to the Fast Action Internet Cafe undercover officers were able to cash in their bingo winnings as they would be able in any other casino or bingo hall. After an extensive review of the evidence a search warrant was issued for the unauthorised bingo business and on the day that the warrant was executed 14 people were found playing bingo on the computers.
Musil was charged with pattern of unlawful activity, a second-degree felony, four counts of gambling, a class B misdemeanor, and possessing a gambling device or record, also a class B misdemeanor.
