A sheriff’s office in Oklahoma has shut down an illegally operated bingo hall. The bingo hall itself was operating with all of the required licensing but there were phone card machines which were being used as online slot machines which the bingo hall didn’t have a license for.

At about 7pm(CST) on Thursday night deputies from the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office and Oklahoma City Police officers executed a search warrant at the Bingo City bingo hall following a month-long investigation. Once inside the officers immediately found the 20 illegal phone card machines, which were being operated as slot machines, and seized them. The 50 or so bingo players inside were asked to leave and the staff were detained for questioning.

Establishing who owns the phone card slot machines is the next step for authorities. The owner of the makeshift slot machines, which were seized from the bingo hall, is facing serious criminal charges. They could face both felony charges of commercial gambling and also misdemeanor charges of possession of a slot machine.
